Simco Spinning & Textile, manufacturers of Cyclo recycled fibers, has entered into a strategic partnership with The Movement to become nominated spinners of the Aware Integrity Solution in Bangladesh.
Cyclo recycled yarn embedded with the Aware Integrity Solution is fully traceable from fiber to final product. With Aware tracer particles added to the certified recycled Cyclo Fiber, the final garment can be scanned by a hand-held device to verify that genuine Cycloe yarn has been used for that final product.
“Sustainability is a spectrum–I believe it is important for retailers and consumers to know where in the spectrum their products lie so they can make better decisions,” Mustafain Munir, founder of Cyclo Recycled Fiber, said. “Aware technology enables us to do that. I see our partnership as key to pushing the industry further in the right direction of the sustainable spectrum.”
Feico van der Veen, founder of Aware, said its integrity solution combines tracer and blockchain technology to help move the industry forward.
“We are more than just a database driven QR-code on a product and ready to scale up,” he said. “We are continuously looking for innovative spinners of sustainable yarn with a disruptive and transparent vision on the future. Therefore, we are extremely proud to be able to work with industry innovators like Simco.”
Similar traceability technologies have been developed in the industry. Applied DNA technology can trace regular cotton from the raw materials stage through DNA embedded in the fibers, while Unifi Inc.’s U Trust verification program ensures every Repreve-based recycled polyester and nylon fabric contains FiberPrint, a proprietary tracer technology used to analyze and validate fiber content claims and composition.
Bangladesh Cyclo Recycled Fibers of Simco Spinning & Textile Ltd. has helped pioneer producing fiber using recycling technology from cutting waste. What started with the production of yarn that was mostly used to produce cleaning materials and other home textiles has evolved into Cyclo Recycled Fibers: a high-quality, commercially applicable yarn that is a sustainable alternative for apparel and other textile applications.
The Movement company from The Netherlands is offering innovative branded sustainable fiber and yarn solutions for the textile industry. Its Polylana Fiber and Aware can be embedded in various kinds of sustainable materials. Genuine sustainable materials are verified by unique tracer particles and validated by secure blockchain. These yarns are available directly at nominated spinners in several locations around the world.
